work with this specimen. as i come to a close with my research, i cannot help but feel accustomed to this creature’s cruel antics. it is almost endearing. i have begun to attach little buttons to its sides to it may attach to things easier. it’s so soft & warm; although it’s certainly a pain to work with, the efforts are worth it.

i have come to understand the speechless alien’s ailment as utter frustration. i think the more we learn to “go with the flow” the more we may befriend these mohairs.

Incoming transmission!

I endured a heatwave this week without AC in a mountainous range of planet knitting. I’ve been working on the sleeves of my backrooms knit, but now that the temperature is dropping I have picked up a new research project! Last summer I crocheted a blanket for my bed and thought it would be fun to crochet another throw! Which is very needed for the chilly nights. I’ve opted for a large hexagon which will become a 6-pointed star, and I’m using yarns that scream “tie-dye” to me because that feels very camp. :)

Activity: Chonky Forest Cat —> Tour de Fleece

After several weeks on Planet Cross-Stitch I have repaired my teleporter just in time to return to Planet Spinning for the local celebration- the Tour de Fleece. I am excited to be able to participate in the local festivities and am working with an alpaca fiber blend in two color ways from the illustrious Fossil Fibers. Appropriately for this voyage, the colors are named Moon Joy and Deep Space. Since my teleporter is now operable, I will likely split my time between Spinning and Cross-Stitch- though my updates from Cross-Stitch will be mostly photographic so I can focus my reports on the festivities of Spinning.

This week I finished a couple of projects and started a new one.

I finished my inkle woven band and cut it off of my loom. I cut it up into different pieces and turned it into earrings and bracelets which I'm excited to wear.
I also finished my needle felted sheep. It was difficult to get exactly the shape I wanted but I think it turned out pretty cute.
I also started a new tablet weaving project - a cute sheep band! This is the first time I've used triangle tablets and #8 perle cotton. I found it required a looser tension in order to comfortably turn the triangle tablets.

Greetings Space Station!
Once again I have been firmly entrenched on Planet Knitting. After finishing my 2nd experiment with Orbit #2, I immediately set up for experiment #3. This one uses completely different materials for me, some combo of what the locals call “linen” and “cotton.” I read about a foreign traveler’s results with these materials on a data catalogue called Ravelry and wanted to try using them myself. I must say, I much prefer animal fiber to this plant fiber; hoping the plant fiber will soften with washing and wearing. Love the color gradient though!

I also started another experiment of the Vibes instructions using a lovely dark pink/purplish yarn purchased on my recent sojourn to the city of iowa settlement a few hours by land rover from where I am camped.

Finally, the challenge got me focused enough to finally thread a needle and close the top of a hat I finished two months ago, so thanks for the inspo!

Emma to Yarn Social Mission Control.

I had to depart Planet Knitting for a short while but look forward to returning soon.

A friend is expecting a new explorer next month, and I want to set him up for success. I have arrived on Planet Crochet, a planet very well known to me, to create a map the new explorer can use to familiarize himself with his surroundings while staying cozy.

I have completed our home solar system's sun and am continuing on to the orbital paths of our eight major planets. The planets themselves will be appliqued after the fact (except Pluto, which will be included as a bobble without an orbit path.)

Greetings fellow earthlings at YSSS!

I found a worm hole between planet Knitting and planet Embroidery last week and luckily remembered to plot the course so I could repeat the process again this week. I finished knitting my sis-in-law’s birthday present (Andrea Mowry’s Everyway Shawl) with a day to spare! She proceeded to wear it every chance she got (inside of course- silly heat wave!)

Then I was finally able to get back to my intermediate embroidery class sampler via the worm hole. It was a much needed respite from having a warm wrap on me during a heat warning. Even with visiting family I was able to enjoy some “me” time and finished the sampler. I’m going to continue practicing the new skills I’ve learned because I am thoroughly enjoying it!

Hello other space travelers!

So this week I met with another yarn social member and taught how to reclaim yarn from a sweater. It is a lovely sweater and hopefully they share here on the progress.

In my personal work, I got the main body of my sweater on my needles again and started knitting it up. I need about 8 to 10 more inches. I hate putting stuff back on needles so it took longer than it should have to just to that. After I got that I done I got about 10 rows done.

I was able to visit three craft planets this week. I started by taking the shuttle to Space Station Yarn Social on Tuesday for the beginner embroidery class. Further stitching took place Wednesday, but the project is on hold until better lighting can be arranged.

In addition to Planet Embroidery, time was spent on Planet Crochet, working on a corner to corner blanket. Thirdly, a visit to Planet Knitting involved re-knitting the frogged portion of the tee mentioned in a previous transmission and the completion of a hibernating emotional support chicken.

Mission Control: Apologies for my delayed transmission! Planet Spinning has been a flurry of activity and I am only just now getting a moment to reflect on the weekend's festivities. I have absolutely been swept away by the energy and have spun at least 530 grams of wool and wool blends this week. It truly seems like the entire planet is a blur of color and excitement as people arrive in person and send missives from the other side of the world. I briefly spotted a mysterious three-eyed sheep during my adventures this weekend, and the locals shared some of their folklore to ease my concerns. This, apparently, is Dashel, and he visits during the Tour de Fleece Festival each year. There are mixed reports as to his demeanor; I personally think he seems mischievous and am curious to see whether he will make another appearance soon. In other news, the wormhole between Planet Fiber Processing and Planet Spinning continues to be well travelled as I have already run out of prepared fleece (identified as "Sicily") and need to comb more to resupply. I expect to commute between both planets for the foreseeable future.

It has been some time between transmissions since I began my exploration of the Sock region of Planet Knitting. The mission proved more perilous than expected, with precarious improvisations, backtracks, and rerouting necessary! I am happy to report, however, that I completed the outward journey in Sock and generated one sample (see attached data file). I have decided to use this checkpoint as a launching location to the next planet, reserving the return journey on sock for a later date (despite tales cautioning against this, since many who explore Sock report challenges in completing their missions by generating the necessary second sample). Yet, I have remained optimistic and determined as I've launched to the second location on my journey: Planet Crochet!

Planet Crochet is a particularly mysterious location for this traveler--though I have seen samples from Crochet and heard secondhand reports of its beautiful landscapes and the thrilling experience of exploring the terrain, I have never set foot there. Luckily, I was able to study detailed mission archives deposited by experienced explorers of Crochet to direct my journey (in particular, video entries from the veteran adventurers TL Yarn Crafts, Creggy's Crochet, Magic Dina, Meema Makes, and 53 Stitches were instrumental in directing my journey). After landing and finding my bearings, I embarked on short hikes in the vicinity of the ship to begin my exploration. I'm amazed at the beautiful region of circles and squares I've found myself in! I have so far determined that there is enough similarity on Crochet to the terrain to Planet Knitting for me to navigate short distances safely while closely consulting my mission constructions. The exploration of this new planet, though not skillful, has been rewarding and extremely enjoyable, and I look forward to each new hike. I have found myself dreaming of longer journeys on Crochet in the upcoming weeks and beyond! I have attached an image of the samples I have generated here thus far.

Having completed my research of the Fruit Doves on planet cross stitch, which I hope to share soon, I stumbled upon a jar of wild ORTs! An ancient method of tracking time passed and progress in one’s journey, this is a sight to behold!

I have since departed planet cross stitch and have arrived on planet spinning just in time for the festival, tour de fleece, to begin! With my supplies in my satchel, I began the celebration of spinning, and have now completed one of 3 braids I brought with me. My plan is to spin each braid and then ply them together for a slightly sparkly 3-ply.

This week I stopped by the travel agency to pick up materials for an exciting new research project. All other traveling is tentatively on hold while I dive into this test knit of the Liv Tee for Made by Marii. The double knit collar is a delightful detail and I’m loving the way the mohair gives the lighter tweed an almost luminescent feeling. Very excited to see where my research leads!
