I have completed my mission for this knitting project!.It has blocked out great and the fit is great! The pattern is Lakeside and the yarn is Treasure Goddess Silk Treasures. I'm looking forward to wearing it but since it is 80% wool I'll wait till our weather is a bit cooler and less humid.

Thanks for the opportunity for the Celestial Voyages this summer. It's been fun.
Signing off,
Wanda

Stardate Report 20260830

This traveler has exhibited behavior of too much time in space this past week. She has been flighty and jumpy and has worked on four different projects this week, all while happily camped on Planet Knitting, thus ensuring a lack of completion on any one of them. Her biggest accomplishment has been determining that she would be very satisfied to use Woolstok Worsted for a larger project, successfully making it halfway through the eM hat for just these test purposes. This space voyage has been good for experimentation, even if her hitchhike scarf and towel are still in process.

Stardate Report 20260831

Hi Space Station,
Not much to report for today, given my last report was just yesterday.  I squeezed in a few more rows on my test hat but joined with non-space travelers for dinner so was short on time. After tonight, it’s back to Planet Earth for me, with more work on my hitchhiker scarf and towel to come, as well as other projects to finish and many more to start.

So long and thanks for all the fish! (As well as for hosting the summer Celestial Journey!)

Incoming mission!

I have been traveling once again, this time to the ozarks! I have started a fun wiggly knit. The 4 inches of k1p1 ribbing for the collar took a while, but this colorful project is finally in the short rows!

Halo YSSS!
It has been an exciting week of travel upon travel for me.  I have brought knitting to keep me occupied on my journey and made sure to bring y’all along for the ride.

I landed on a crazy rainbow space station just off of planet knitting called West Knits aka Stephen and Penelope.  I had visited this location two years ago but they have since moved to an even bigger station!  It was as glorious a visit as you can imagine.  I’m sure I lapped the station several times trying to make just the right purchases!  No Stephen sighting and no one would give me any hints about the MKAL- hiss boo!  Luckily, I have an amazing local space station to visit to make sure I have all the right materials for the MKAL.

Final Transmission!

Yarn Social Space Station you have once again helped me get through the summer focusing on me and what fulfills me creatively. I really pushed myself outside of my crafting and planet comfort zones thanks to you offering such great classes to go along with our summer fun.  I have looked forward to seeing what other astronauts have created or worked on this summer as well.  I feel inspired and will definitely continue exploring all the crafty planets in our solar system!

Signing out!

Incoming message for YSSS:

A gross miscalculation led to being sucked into a black hole like anomaly leading to spaghettification of the sock model that needed to be re-built with more precise data measurements.  After a few days the final trek of the heel mountain range was done.  The last expedition was finished off with a ribbed-like landing but was found unsatisfactory upon execution and later observation.  This time research went into a rolled hem landing technique, and it was executed flawlessly.  I’ll have to go back and re-edit the data from the last mission to match, but that will hopefully be done very soon.

With the shocking realization of how long I'd been researching at the sock outpost, I found September was almost here and I had a deadline quickly approaching.  My sister is to explore more of a planet known as Earth and is visiting a very cold climate.  There are mammoth creatures known as whales there and to aid her in her own exploration I thought I’d use the custom craft of planet knitting to make her gear for the expedition featuring a diagram of the whale.  I have long been an admirer of the multi-color pieces from planet knitting, but being a rather tense explorer I was worried about how that might affect my own work.  Now, being as good as any time to try I charted a course to the colorwork continent on planet knitting.  The newly crafted gear does lack a bit of stretch, but the progress is so satisfying to see as each new row is done.

I had intentions to visit planet crochet but have not yet made time for it.  I’ve gathered some of the needed space resources so hopefully I’ll be able to visit soon!

This is space explorer Elise, signing off

This week I've been continuing to work on my double knit scarf and have completed a couple more rows

I've been struggling a bit with some basic knitting skills so I also took a knitting class this week where I tried out some new cast ons and practiced fixing different mistakes that have stumped me in the past. I'm excited to practice these skills so that I feel prepared to conquer anything that comes my way during my knitting explorations.

Today I picked up a copy of Purl Magazine. I've seen so many posts about it online from people who've read it or contributed to it that made it sound really good. It being all about cast ons is perfect because I don't know very many and I don't really understand the different options I have. So far I'm really liking it. I've practiced two of the cast ons today and am excited to learn more.

20260830 log

Another extended road trip has come to a close, this time passing through Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, (specifically Taos, Arroyo Seco, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque), and Texas before returning home. Progress was made on both Planet Knitting and Planet Crochet. The attached photo shows an attempted launch away from sleeve island. It was definitely more comfortable in Santa Fe than Kansas City is right now. If all goes well, this cardigan should be ready to wear before Autumn arrives.

20260831 - final transmission

Planning of next projects has begun, though only one item was finished this summer. The annual Lisa Ross MKAL is on my list. Yarn is chosen and Ravelry project page has been started. My sister gifted me some wooly yarn which might be just enough to make The little garden by Junko Okamoto, a pattern I learned about on my recent trip.

I made good progress on my crochet project. I have just a few more inches of a cardigan sleeve to finish. My tee was nearly finished, ripped back, and worked forward again, but gauge is still off, so it’s back in time out. The Le Bandana is moving along here and there, but it’s a low priority project. I swatched for a new pullover, but the actual cast-on is still pending. I learned some embroidery and the basics of making cordage from dog bane bark. It was a busy summer, indeed.

I started swatching for two new knitting projects this week. Do I have 3 WIPs,  already on the needles? Yes, but that’s beside the point.

I did also finally make my way back to Planet Needle Felting to work on my felted basket.  Still a long way to go, but it is starting to look recognizable, as a Hobbit Hole so that’s a win. Alas, I also stabbed myself at least 5 times.

This evening I’ve been working on a lovely little cabled cardigan I’m testing. I picked up some Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool from the travel agency a few weeks ago and so far I’ve very much enjoyed how it’s working up.

It has been such a joy going on this planetary excursion with you all and I’m truly going to miss seeing all your updates. Happy travels, my friends!

Greetings Yarn Social Space Station! I have successfully traversed Sleeve Island and have sailed back to the mainland of Planet Knitting. Upon further reflection, I've decided I'm not quite ready to depart the planet without adding a little extra length to the bottom hem of this sweater. I have reestablished my home base for this last mission, my tools are ready, and I am looking forward to seeing this through once and for all.

Friends and Folks, we are ready for bind off!  It feels right to end my journey here on Planet Knitting, and it's been an absolute blast traversing the Fiber Arts Universe alongside so many other yarn explorers. I've been inspired by each and every mission log I've read since we launched. Thank you to Yarn Social Space Station for encouraging us all to go forth and report back on whatever brought us joy and excitement to pursue this summer. (I, for one, cannot believe I washed so much wool in such a short period of time.) Cheers to all who tried something new, or returned to something beloved. I could not be more proud of everyone who participated.
